Singin' In The Sun
Posted by Pete Bouchard
Weird cloud day. Heavy overcast gave way to sun this afternoon - everywhere but Metrowest and Greater Worcester. It's odd because the coast/Capes typically stay in the clouds in this type of setup, while towns and cities west of Boston usually see sun.
Nothing's normal about this pattern. Remember that storm that was supposed to stay out to sea on Monday? Well, it's still staying out to sea, but it's nudged a little closer to us too. That means wind and rain will come sweeping back into Southern New England. Since the Cape/Islands are closer to the storm center, they bear the brunt of the wind/rain. Gusts could reach 25-30mph and nearly an inch of rain may fall, whereas the rest of us could only see a quarter of an inch and much lighter winds. Far cry from a nor'easter, but certainly not the 'mostly cloudy' forecast from yesterday. And we need the water, so I won't be snubbing it.
Back to the weekend. High pressure in command, gentle sea breezes at the coast. Expect highs near 70 and tons of sun.
Be well and enjoy.
