Sox Sizzle, Warmth Fizzles

Quite a sports weekend!!! Sox in a Series rematch with the Cards, the Pats...uh, nevermind.
And mild weather holds across New England....for one more day. Get your fill of the 60s tomorrow, because the bottom will drop out from midweek on.
The front that will change it all is very deceptive: just a few showers and a batch of clouds. Seems harmless, until you look at the temperatures behind it. Highs in the 40s, lows in the 20s?!?! That's more like early winter than mid October.
Certainly right. Our normal highs are near 60 this time of year. While we'll modify (warm) that air to the 50s/30s, there will be a wind, and hence, a wind chill. Plan on dressing for 30s for BOTH World Series games at Fenway.
Most of the showers from the afternoon hours will be gone on Wednesday. Speaking of, if this weather system had a little more power, I'd be dropping flakes into the forecast! However, as it stands now, the cool air is marginal, and the storm is weak.
After Wednesday, the cool air will hold for the long term, warding off storms and providing multiple frosts/freezes in the mornings (buh-bye mosquitos). Don't look for 60s in the forecast anytime soon. Sure, there are some signs of moderation near Halloween, but this is a major - and stable - shift in the weather pattern, not some passing cold airmass.
Hunker down and get ready to turn on the heat.
